North Jakarta on Alert as Water Level Rises in Pasar Ikan

Until 6 AM, water level keep rising to 209 centimeters

The Operational Control Center (pusdalops) for Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has put North Jakarta on alert as water levels at the Pasar Ikan Sluice Gate continue to rise, Friday (3/27). At 6 AM, the water had risen to 209 centimeters or on alert-II status due to tidal wave in the sea since last night. 

Based on the latest data, at 12 AM, the water level risen to 190 centimeters or on alert-III status. Then at 1 AM, it continued to rise up to 195 centimeters and 198 centimeters at 2 AM.

Water Level in Sluice Gates Began to Fall, Agency Says

"Until 6 AM, water level keep rising to 209 centimeters," said Officer of BPBD's operational control center, Desmanto, Friday (3/27). 

As for information, Desmanto expained, the limit water level in Pasar Ikan Sluice Gate is on alert-III status if the water reaches 170-190 centimeters. Sluice gate began to show on alert-II status if its water reaches 200-249 centimeters. While alert-I status, will be set if water level reaches more than 250 centimeters. 

If water level keep rising, some areas would be inundated. They are North Jakarta and parts of West Jakarta. 

As for the condition of some sluice gates in Jakarta is still normal. Those are Katulampa, Manggarai, Pluit, Cipinang Hulu, and Pulogadung. "Sea coast area has to be alert as sea water is rising. People are urged to be more vigilant, and we have coordinated with local related officers about this status," he finished.
